Cumberland Pool Rules & Regulations
Membership and Guest Policies:
- Only Cleveland Heights residents, current season pass holders, and their guests are permitted to swim at Cumberland Pool.
- All residents wishing to purchase a day pass must present two (2) forms of identification, including a driver's license and a piece of business mail dated within the last 30 days. Leases are also acceptable.
- Season Pass Holders and day pass holders are permitted to bring two (2) guests per day. All residents bringing a guest MUST sign in when entering the pool.
- Residents who bring guests are responsible for their guests' behavior. The behavior of guests can also impact the residents' membership and pool privileges.
Pool/Locker Room Rules:
- Only U.S. Coast Guard-approved puddle jumpers or equivalent are allowed.
- Management reserves the right to inspect or restrict use of puddle jumpers in the interest of patron safety.
- ALL children wearing approved puddle jumpers MUST be within arm's reach of an adult (18 years or older).
- Life jackets, water wings, and other inflatable devices are prohibited.
- Smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes or vapor devices, is strictly prohibited throughout the entire facility.
- Glass items and containers are prohibited.
- Use of obscene, profane, vulgar, derogatory, demeaning or threatening language or gestures is prohibited.
- Entering the facility by means other than proper check-in procedures is prohibited.
- Threats and attempts to intimidate employees, lifeguards or guests is prohibited.
- Throwing of articles in a deliberate or aggressive manner is prohibited.
- Physically striking another individual is prohibited.
- Attempts to goad or incite violence in others is prohibited.
- Vandalism to City property is prohibited.
- Racial or ethnic slurs are prohibited.
- Spitting is prohibited.
- Lewd or lascivious sexual behavior is prohibited.
- Theft of property or possession of weapons is prohibited.
- Use of drugs or alcohol is prohibited.
- Alcoholic beverages and any substance that could cause impairment are strictly prohibited. Anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be denied entry.
- Diving is prohibited in all areas of the pool except from the diving boards.
- Swimming is not allowed under the diving board or in the immediate diving area.
- All Swimmers, including adults who wish to use the diving board, must pass a swim test.
- The preschool lane is reserved for preschoolers (children 5 & under) and their parent/guardian.
- Preschoolers must be accompanied by an adult who is in the water with the child and who is attentive at all times.
- No more than three (3) children are to be in the water per adult in the preschool lane.
- Children under 48" tall must be within arms' reach of an adult at all times
- Audio devices that are audible to others are not permitted.
- Valuables should not be brought to the pool. The City of Cleveland Heights and pool personnel are not responsible for the loss of personal property.
- Staff reserves the right to inspect any bag or personal property.
- Staff reserves the right to restrict or prohibit the use of any toy or object.
- Staff reserves the right to restrict or prohibit any action or behavior.
- Any act that could be a threat to the safety and welfare of others or in any way interferes with the proper operation of the pool may result in ejection from the facility and/or the suspension or revocation of one's pass.
- Management reserves the right to add, amend, or modify any rules or policies at any time.
- Management reserves the right to limit and enforce patron occupancy at any time.
- Management reserves the right to invoke wristband policies at any time.
- Management reserves the right to adjust daily operating hours at any time, without advance notice, including closing the pool due to cold or inclement weather, or for any reason as deemed necessary by management.
- Walk at all times; NO running.
- The “Adult Deck” is for adults only.
- No horseplay, sitting on shoulders, carrying others on backs, or engaging in any conduct deemed to be dangerous by staff. Dunking others or pushing anyone into the pool is dangerous and is not permitted.
- Never jump over, on, or near a swimmer.
- Swimmers must share lap lanes. Circle swim when more than 2 swimmers are in a lane. Special lap lane rules may be enforced and lap lane availability may be restricted by staff for use by other activities or programs at any time.
- Anyone under the age of 18 is prohibited from using the Adult Lap Lanes (#1-9).
- Non-swimmers and poor swimmers must use the shallow end of the pool. Staff reserves the right to determine eligibility as a deep-water swimmer and to restrict access to any area of the pool for any swimmer.
- Pool privileges will be denied to anyone who willfully breaks the rules, endangers or disturbs others, fails to comply with pool policies or staff directives, or who in any way interferes with the operation of the facility.
