The CH50HL is designed to allow senior hockey players a chance to play competitive hockey in a recreational setting. Emphasis will be on good, clean, fun hockey. The League is open to Novice and Intermediate (B and C) players who are at least 50 years of age, while goaltenders must be at least 40 years of age. Advanced players will not be allowed to enter or continue in the League. Any player who persists in dangerous play or abuse of officials after one warning will be removed from the League with no refund of fees.
The League has 4 teams, with each team having a maximum of 15 skaters plus a goalie. Each team will play approximately 21 games, one game per week, with all games generally on Friday evenings (occasional variations may be necessary due to weather conditions or rink conflicts). In addition, all teams will qualify for the playoffs. Game start times are anticipated to range generally between 8:15 and 10:30 p.m.
Note: there may be occasional 11:00 p.m. start times.
We plan to have pre-season ice for tryouts and practice (for registered players) on Fridays, starting in September.
Registration
Registration for male skaters who meet the 50+ age requirement will be done through a third-party website starting in August. All others (e.g., goalies, female skaters, male skaters over age 47 but under age 50) will be able to register using the Alternate or Goalie Registration Forms; these forms will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
