The Office on Aging provides van transportation to Cleveland Heights senior residents 60 and over who are not eligible for RTA's ADA paratransit service. Cleveland Heights seniors can be driven to medical appointments, shops, the Senior Activity Center, banks and other errands within the set boundaries. There are two social workers on the Office on Aging staff. These qualified individuals are available to talk with you (via the phone or in person). They have information on assisted living facilities, nursing homes, life safety systems, Meals on Wheels, and activities, just to name a few. Health services include annual flu shots, blood pressure checks, health information and screenings to Cleveland Heights seniors age 60 and over. Health screenings and lectures held at the Senior Center, can include anything from bone density scans to fall prevention talks. Opened in 2002, the Senior Activity Center - housed in the Cleveland Heights Community Center at 1 Monticello Boulevard - offers a variety of classes, discussion groups, clubs and programming for seniors 60 and over. Activities range from the arts, dance, book discussions, lectures and wellness programs - including yoga, strength training, tai chi, and Pilates - are among the most popular classes. Meals on Wheels of Cleveland Heights, Inc. - in conjunction with the Office on Aging - provides meals to residents unable to cook for themselves, including a hot lunch and cold supper.
